This was the cover design proof I provided to the University of Texas Press for my first book Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucination of the "Mexican" in America published in February 2007; the graphic, a melange of distressed xeroxing, rubber stamps, and digital fontography eventually made it into the book's color signature section as the cover page. An annotated version of the image is online here.

The book was designed by the one and only Lisa Tremaine, an award-winning designer who learned her chops back in the day at Time Magazine.

More on Tex[t]-Mex and my work is here.
