About Molokai

Molokai is the “local” island with the most Hawaiians per capita in Hawaii. Less than 8,000 people live here. Molokai is noted for being vastly undeveloped – there is no McDonalds, no shopping mall and not even a single traffic light. This is not by chance but because the community has been successful in organizing itself against large development. Popular bumper stickers read “Save La`au Point,” “No Cruise Ships,” “Molokai Mobettah” and “Molokai, OK to visit, not to live.”

The Molokai Dispatch

At 20 years old, The Molokai Dispatch is the island’s oldest and most venerated newspaper. We are centrally located in the main town of Kaunakakai. Our goal is to provide our readers with quality and meaningful content to empower them through the knowledge of what is happening within the community.
