Karl Gerstner, one of Switzerland's most distinguished artists, has devoted himself, for 50 years, to the study of colour.
The manipulation of colour's tonal and chromatic scales have
dominated his work in two and three dimensions. All works, single or series, follow a program which is often surprising in its evolution. The compositions are animated and abstract, geometric and perfectly executed.
These characteristics are both Gerstner's strategy and signature.
