MoMa will have a first museum survey of Olafur Eliasson. I like this kind of large scale installations that speak to your subconscious.
The work above is his 'Take Your Time' a new piece at P.S. 1, made for the show, consists
of a huge, tilted, disc-shaped mirror suspended horizontally from a
gallery ceiling. The mirror is rotating very slowly with a subtly undulating motion that causes the room itself feel
warped and unstable.
Olafur Eliasson's works are large-scale
installations, sculptures, and photographs that recreate the landscape and atmosphere in his native Iceland and it recontextualizes elements such as light, water, ice, fog, stone, and
moss to create unique situations that shift the viewer’s perception of
place and self.
