The bad thing (and what makes them good) is that performances are best viewed live. In college I happened to see a Philip Glass multimedia opera and can't understand how it could be translated into a book. In that pre-digital age, the set/props were projected by about 50 slide projectors onto near-invisible stage panels meaning the scene could flux in a dreamlike way.
