Soccer City Stadium design / FIFA World Cup

The Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa will be the home for the final match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Boogertman Urban Edge + Partner and Populous collaborated on the elaborate reconstruction on an existing structure originally built in the 1980s (FNB Stadium).

"One of the most artistic and awe-inspiring football venues on the African continent, the newly-reconstructed Soccer City Stadium will host the first and final matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. The ground's design is inspired by the iconic African pot known as the calabash, and its aesthetic appeal will be heightened when the stadium is lit at night..." —Fifa.com

Two more days, and we get to see this architecture (and the others) fit their purpose. Can't wait. Thanks for the glimpse.
