The Simpsons family has been celebrating their birthday all year, from appearing on USPS postage stamps to Marge Simpson posing for Playboy. In December 2009, TV Guide released 5 different cover designs featuring Homer Simpson and the tagline The Simpsons turn 20!.
In the January 2010 issue of Fast Company there is a typographic illustration filled with money-related Simpsons trivia (scan below).
This content coincides with The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special — In 3-D! — On Ice! airing on January 10th, 2009 (almost a month past the real birthday of December 17). Morgan Spurlock is the host of the special documentary episode. The 450th episode of The Simpsons will air directly prior. To further commemorate The Simpsons b-day, Fox network will begin their "yellow" campaign on January 3rd.
"...Throughout the week, Fox will incorporate the famous Simpsons yellow into on-air graphics and promotional spots that will run on the network and will be provided to Fox affiliates. Simpsons yellow will also be featured prominently on the network’s website, Fox.com..." —from press release
Lets just hope Time Warner Cable doesn't pull the plug on Fox just in time. I can manage well without Fox news, but losing The Simpsons would be disappointing. But there is always Hulu if all else fails.
