“Louise Fili, Ltd. founded in 1989, specializes in logo, package, restaurant, type, book and book jacket design. A senior designer for Herb Lubalin from 1976-1978, Louise Fili was art director of Pantheon Books from 1978 to 1989, where she designed over 2000 book jackets...”
An avid collector of ephemera, Fili finds inspiration everywhere: from orange labels, old magazines from the 40s, subway mosaics, to Italian pastry papers.
In January 2008, I saw Fili speak at AIGA's Classic/Contemporary: A Conversation with Louise Fili talk at frog design. Her talk was so interesting and inspiring that taking decent notes was impossible.
This Thursday, May 15, Louise Fili will be speaking at the TDC salon in New York.
She has a new book from The Little Bookroom due out in September 2008.
Also Celia Cheng from Cravings, has an interview podcast with Fili titled “Design & Gastronomy.”
