Rockwell VS Mysto & Pizzi
Add to Folder | Comments (0) | January 13, 2009

Hey everyone, just wanted to say real quick, thanks for all your support in 2008, and for everyone who used the 2009 poster to help celebrate the new year. We’re very thankful for all the hype we’ve been getting, but we certainly won’t let it go to our heads… Anyway, we’ve just been working away, here in the office; we really haven’t had a break since New Years Eve, and even then, Christy and I were both stressing about finishing our projects in the new year. With the Colorbureau just around the corner, (our own proprietary online shop), and wrapping current client projects, we really haven’t had enough time to post anything new on here.

Anyway, I thought it would be appropriate to publish some music we’ve been listening to recently, to help us through the work week. I’m sure you’ll recognize these two gems...

I’m kind of late in posting about this, as I’m sure some of you are already well aware of the underground
dubstep craze known as: “Burial”, especially since this record came out in 2006...

The new site for Bastardgraphics is up and it looks great. The design is very lean and simple. Any animation is done smoothly and here and there. The site has a great feel and look to it and it's fun to just jump around on it. If you get a moment, check it out.

Cuil.com

This "inspiration" is more in the taste of what not to do. Cuil.com is a search engine with an originator of Google behind the helm. They boast a search engine that goes through 121,687,892,992 webpages. The funny thing about the engine is that it doesn't exactly work.

Unfortunately for them, searches come up with varying results and usually results that have little or nothing to do with the search terms. It's funny in a sad sort of way.

Why is this inspirational to Colorcubic? This is inspirational because it's a lesson of what not to do- launching and promoting media that doesn't do what it advertises. What we're saying is to double-check everything before you put it out for the public to see. Dot your "i"s, cross your "t"s, whatever it is you need to do, do it. This image you present yourself with on the web and other media is for everyone to see. Make it your best impression.

Watergate

Watergate is a club with an ideal location - on the water. This club was a discovery by our friends at Nueva Forma™ who stumbled across the goldmine that is Watergate. Not only is the location a dream, but they have an LED-lit dance floor, where, as video shows us, can be synched to the music being pumped at the club.

Needless to say, this is on our top 10 list of places to go before we die.

*An interesting bit of news: the river that runs alongside Watergate is entering a bit of a commercial gentrification. The good news is that the community of Berlin who cares about their community has taken action and protested several years in a row about this commercial expansion. More on this can be found here.

On a lighter note, check out video taken at Watergate and get your drool rags out. And sorry about the audio, we didn't shoot this, and I'm sure anyone would have clipping issues.
